POOL REPORT 2009

A lack of pre-season training proved to be very costly as we lost the first match of the league season 5-4, after leading 4-2, to the eventual winners of the league, The Vivian Arms. We did, however, finish runners up in the end.

We were rubbish in the team knockout cup, so we won’t mention that! The individual knockout saw Jez Ward and Tom Seamark lose deciding frames in opposite semi-finals, so again we won nothing. But there was some glory as Jez Ward and Chris Frost (Frosty - the ice-man among printable nicknames) won the knockout doubles competition.

It was however a very enjoyable way to spend Thursday evenings and we will keep going while we can still walk and see the other end of the table. The same players were involved again - Jez Ward, ’Frosty’, Tom Seamark, Richard Holmes, Kev Pepper, John King and Shaun Baldry.
